With so many fine piano teachers in Helena, you may wonder what sort of lessons and teaching experience Cheryl McKenty has to offer. Cheryl teaches traditional, private, 30 and 45-minute lessons, and has done so since a senior in high school back in 1971. (However, if you think “traditional” means “stuffy and stern”, you are mistaken!) After years of piano lessons, Cheryl graduated with a Music Education degree and began teaching in the schools as well. Cheryl is an accomplished pianist whose adult life has gently led her to be an accomplished teacher of beginning and intermediate students. Living for so many years in Glacier Park, Montana, she found herself teaching students of all ages interested in a rounded musical experience via piano lessons. So she particularly understands and enjoys teaching the multi-faceted students of today. Her approach to piano instruction is simple: provide each student with a generous amount of repertoire, embellished with at least 2 opportunities to collectively perform for family and friends each year. She teaches adults, home-schoolers, and children who are willing and able to commit to weekly lessons and daily practicing. She offers lessons in the summer months, and keeps her studio small to allow for some flexibility in accommodating busy schedules. Cheryl conveniently lives in the area around Bryant School, St. Mary’s Church, and the UM College of Technology. Feel free to contact her by phone or email, and arrange for a visit/consultation if you like. |
