The Marjorie Lee Schroeter Music Camp Scholarship Helping make music studies possible for more students...
The Marjorie Lee Schroeter Music Camp Scholarship was established in 1992 by The Helena Music Teachers Association (HMTA) to honor the memory of Marjorie Lee Schroeter, a Helena, Montana, native and HMTA member, who taught music in Helena for many years.
Purpose. Marjorie Lee Schroeter scholarship grants may be used only for attendance at a band, orchestra or chorus camp, but not a piano camp (see Jean Crockett Scholarship for information on piano camp scholarships). Grant checks are payable to any recognized band or orchestra camp selected by the recipient.
Eligibility. Active students of HMTA-member teachers may apply.
Application. An application form, including a recording, must be submitted to HMTA before April 15. Students may apply each year until graduation from high school.
Selection Criteria. The scholarship selection committee, chaired by Cathy Champion-Predmore, awards grants on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Quality of recorded performance
  • Commitment to music
  • Recommendation of teacher
  • Financial need
Announcement. Scholarship grants will be announced by mail on or about May 1. Recipients will also be announced in the Helena Independent Record.
Funding. The Marjorie Lee Schroeter Scholarship is funded by donations. Much good work has been done to enhance the music education of students in the Helena, Montana, area.
